Leverkusen have already prepared a fresh contract for the German star, whose current deal is set to expire in 2027. The new contract will reportedly include an exit clause, which will become active in the summer of 2026, but Wirtz has yet to sign on the dotted line.

The reigning German champions will only let Wirtz leave this summer if they receive an offer in the region of €120 million (£101m/$130m), according to . The report also adds that Bayern Munich have initiated initial talks with the player's representatives, while Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has identified the 21-year-old as a top target.

Wirtz is currently sidelined with a medial ligament injury in his right ankle. It's a huge blow for Xabi Alonso's side, who have fallen six points behind Bayern in the 2024-25 Bundesliga title race.
